Salih, Leaf discuss regional developments

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, discussed with US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, developments in the regional situation, while they stressed the need to defuse the crises surrounding the region.

A statement from the President's Office  stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received the US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, and the meeting dealt with discussing and developing bilateral relations between the two countries, and advancing it in various political, economic, cultural and environmental fields, including It achieves common interests, in addition to cooperation in combating terrorism and its remnants, and strengthening the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

Regarding the internal situation in the country, President Barham Salih referred, according to the statement, to the path of dialogue and convergence and the existing endeavors to address political issues, while  Barbara Leaf affirmed the commitment of the United States to support the security and stability of Iraq and the safety of its people, and to support dialogue to address the political crisis in a manner that consolidates stability and achieves progress for Iraqis .
