Ministry of Electricity announced on Saturday, the reoperation of all the generating units that damaged at Maysan Power Plant.
"The electrical system will resume it work normally in the coming hours after the ministry's cadres lately controlled the damage occurred at Maysan station, which is a technical failure due to an explosion in one of the circuit breakers and current transformer boxes, not as was circulated in some media outlets that it was a Fire outbreak," The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Mousa, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Mousa also affirmed that “"The cadres of Electricity Ministry managed to restore all the power lines and generating units that were damaged and began to gradually restore the system in the governorates of Basra, Maysan and parts of Dhi Qar."
Earlier, Maysan Electricity Distribution Branch announced a complete shutdown of electric power throughout the governorate at 11:15 pm yesterday, along with other southern governorates.
