Pentagon: China is increasing its nuclear arsenal by 3-4 times

US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Cole announced that China is about to increase its nuclear arsenal by 3-4 times.

"China is building its nuclear arsenal at a very fast pace. Three or even four times," Cole said.

Cole noted that the US administration had previously heard China's statements about its intention to discuss issues of strategic stability, but Washington "does not see Beijing's real readiness for such action.".

At the same time, he stressed that his country would not want to slip into conflict with China.
"One of the good things we saw in the situation around Taiwan was that there were no nuclear threats from China," he said.
