Baghdad-INA
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed, today, Tuesday, that Iraq is working to obtain a resolution from the Security Council to help it expel the Kurdistan Workers Party from its lands.
Hussein said in an interview with the Iraqi Media Network (IMN) Channel, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We will demand the Security Council to pass a resolution that helps Iraq expel the PKK, and it is our duty to work with other concerned countries to remove the PKK from the land of Iraq."
Speaking about the Turkish presence, he added, "There are more than 4,000 Turkish fighters and 100 military points in Iraqi territory, and the Bashiqa base, where the Turkish army is located, is 100 km from the border.".
He added, "Turkey says that it is entering Iraq to fight the PKK that threatens it, and this is illegal because its incursion is not carried out in agreement with Iraq, and Turkey cannot cross the Iraqi borders and claim to fight the PKK."
