The European Union extended today, Tuesday, its sanctions against Russia for another six months, until January 31, 2023, under the pretext of the situation related to Ukraine .
"The Council of the European Union decided today to extend the restrictive measures currently in force in relation to certain sectors of the Russian economy for a period of six months, until January 31, 2023, " the Council of the European Union said in a statement on Tuesday.
The economic sanctions that the European Union began to impose more than 7 years ago target the financial, energy and defense sectors in Russia, and in particular a number of Russian banks and companies .
It also aims to limit the access of Russian banks and companies to the EU's primary and secondary capital markets, and a ban on the import and export of arms and dual-use goods has been imposed. The European Union has also limited the Russian side's access to a number of technologies and services for oil production and exploration .
