Al-Kadhimi confirms to Plasschaert that Iraq will approach the Security Council regarding the recent Turkish aggression

    Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed Monday that Iraq has approached the Security Council regarding the recent Turkish attack, while the representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Jeanine Plasschaert , indicated that she would testify at the Security Council session on the attack.

     The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received, today, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert," noting that "the meeting witnessed a discussion of files of cooperation between Iraq and the mission of The United Nations in various other fields, especially with regard to steps to close the file of the displaced and support the liberated areas.

     Al-Kadhimi stressed, "Iraq proceeded to approach the UN Security Council regarding the recent Turkish attack, which led to the martyrdom of a number of innocent citizens in Dohuk Governorate," calling on "the United Nations and the international community to listen to the Iraqi point of view in this regard, in a way that enhances Iraq's sovereignty over its lands and protects its citizens."  

     Plasschaert indicated that she would "make a statement in this regard in a session of the UN Security Council to decide on this matter."
