Al-Araji receives UNITAD Special Adviser Christian Ritscher

    The National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji emphasized on Sunday, the need to work continuously to accomplish the task of collecting evidence to condemn Da’esh.
     
    The media office of the National Security Adviser stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Araji received in his office today Sunday , the Head of the United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da’esh/ISIL (UNITAD), Special Adviser Christian Ritscher."
     
    Al-Araji stressed, according to the statement, "The need to work continuously to accomplish the task of collecting evidence to condemn ISIS, and no impunity for criminals," noting that "Iraq has requested the cooperation of the international community, to assume its responsibilities in holding the terrorist Daesh accountable for crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity."
     
    Al-Araji indicated that "United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2379 of 2017, specified the tasks of the international team, which requires strengthening joint cooperation between Iraq and UNITAD, to enhance accountability efforts for the crimes of genocide committed by ISIS, and to bring justice for the victims and their families by ensuring that these terrorists do not go unpunished."
     
    For his part, UNITAD Special Adviser Christian Ritscher thanked Al-Araji for his continuous support for the team's work, noting that “UNITAD is working in full coordination with the Iraqi government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister's Office, the National Security Advisory and other ministries to accomplish the mission."
     
    Ritscher indicated that “UNITAD has prepared a plan of action in coordination with the Iraqi government, to accomplish the tasks assigned to it, and to exert all the efforts in order to hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes against humanity."
