6 drug dealers arrested in Baghdad and Najaf, SMC reporters

    The Security Media Cell (SMC) announced on Sunday, the arrest of 6 drug dealers in Baghdad and Najaf.

    SMC said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "through the implementation of two separate duties, the detachments of the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate affiliated to the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security, and in coordination with the Eleventh Division, were able to arrest three accused of drug trafficking east of the capital, Baghdad,," they had narcotics and drug paraphernalia in their possession, which were seized and the accused were referred to the court.”

    The statement added, "According to accurate intelligence information, the detachments of the Najaf Intelligence and Security Directorate, in conjunction with the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Division, arrested three drug dealers in Najaf province, they were arrested after obtaining judicial approvals and the issuance of arrest warrants against them and take the necessary legal measures against them.”

    It explained “The directorate's detachments were able to arrest one of the wanted persons for the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article (1/4) of terrorism, while it was in the Al-Alawi area in central Baghdad," noting that "the arrest process came in coordination and cooperation with the 9th Baghdad Emergency Regiment."
