BAGHDAD-INA
Ministry of Health clarified Sunday its procedures towards pilgrims returning to the country, while sending a message to citizens after the sharp rise in the number of Corona cases.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Ministry of Health is an essential part of the Hajj mission, as the medical mission has accompanied the pilgrims since the first days of the Hajj season at all ports."
He pointed out that "there is more than one temporary health center in Makkah and Al-Madinah that was opened to follow up health cases and provide medical care," stressing "the mission's work continues at the border crossings until now."
He explained, "A group of doctors and health staff accompanied the pilgrims during their return, and this is according to a pre-prepared plan and follow-up by the Minister of Health through the Directorate of Operations and Emergency Medical Services."
Regarding the increase in Corona cases, Al-Badr confirmed, “Iraq is witnessing a sharp rise in the number of Corona cases,” noting that “the commitment is still almost non-existent with regard to preventive measures, in addition to the low demand for receiving the vaccine.”
He called on citizens to "receive the vaccination, adhere to preventive measures, wear masks, and practice physical distancing."
