The United Nations representative in Iraq, Jenin Hennis-Plasschaert, called today, Friday on Iraqi politicians to make efforts and make sacrifices to achieve the interest of the people with the advent of Eid al-Adha, while stressing that the holiday is an opportunity for Iraqis to put aside their differences .
Plasschaert said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "according to traditions, Eid is a time for giving and forgiveness, and for expressing sympathy and celebration, and these virtues are gaining more importance this year than ever before, as the country is swept by protracted political tendencies and dust storms. A new wave of the Corona virus pandemic and global tensions are having an impact on the daily lives of Iraqis, including their food security.
She added, "Eid al-Adha provides an opportunity for people now to reunite them, open their hearts, and seek to address their differences, and in this spirit, I am confident that people can overcome the challenges facing them, and we hope that the political class will make the necessary sacrifices for the benefit of their society and country so that all Iraqis look united to a more future.
