Salih: Tensions that threaten security of Yazidis must be ended

    President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed Sunday on ending the tensions that threaten the security of the Yazidis.
     
    The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President Salih received at the Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, a delegation from the people of Sinjar, in the presence of the head of the National Security Service, Hamid Al-Shatri, to discuss developments in the security, service and humanitarian conditions in the city and the obstacles facing its people." 

    Salih affirmed that "Sinjar has suffered a lot as a result of violence and terrorism, and its people have valiantly faced various hardships and tribulations," stressing "the necessity of alleviating the suffering of the people of Sinjar and providing the necessary atmosphere for the return of the displaced, confident and honorable, and for normal life to return to it."

    He continued, "The attacks on Sinjar are condemned and rejected, and that the security tensions inside the city that threaten the security and stability of the Yazidis are unacceptable," stressing "the importance of working through the authorities of the federal government and the region on serious coordination to end these issues."

    He pointed to "the necessity of overcoming the political and administrative obstacles that hinder justice for the Yazidis, and working on the reconstruction of the city and organizing the administration in Sinjar based on the will of its people, and keeping it away from political conflicts."

    For its part, the delegation members expressed their thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for his efforts in supporting the Yazidis, establishing security and stability in Sinjar, and defending the rights of the victims and redressing their families.
