The international coalition led by the United States announced that the coalition forces arrested today, Thursday, a senior leader of ISIS during an operation in Syria on June 16.

A spokesman for the Turkey-backed Syrian National Army told Reuters that the US-led coalition carried out in the early hours of the day a helicopter landing operation in an area of northern Syria controlled by the opposition forces, adding that this was the first such operation in the area

So far, the situation is still ambiguous,” said Youssef Hammoud, a spokesman for the Syrian National Army.

He also added that the operation, which ended, took place near the village of Al-Humaira, a few kilometers from the Turkish border, noting that American-made Chinook and Black Hawk helicopters participated in it.
He pointed out that this is the first US helicopter landing operation in areas under the control of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army.

Meanwhile, a Source linked to the opposition forces in the area reported that clashes erupted during the operation.

US-led forces have previously carried out helicopter landings and drone strikes in areas in northern Syria controlled by pro-US Kurdish forces, and in western Idlib, which is controlled by extremists linked to al-Qaeda.

US special forces also carried out a helicopter landing operation in February, west of Idlib province, in an area controlled by the hardline group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which resulted in the killing of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi.
