The leader of the Sadrist movement, Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, apologized on Saturday, for withdrawing while delivering his speech on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Mohammad al-Sadr.

Al-Sadr said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “With all sincerity and love, I say to everyone who commemorated the anniversary inside and outside Iraq: May God bless you and thank you for this sincerity, love and affection for the owner of the anniversary  and his two late sons, and for me I am the humble worshiper who indeed needs the mercy of his God  ...and to the honorable family of Al-Sadr."

He added, "I apologize for withdrawing during the speech, in order to preserve your safety first... and for my life to continue serving you secondly, just as God did not want me to be in the car of my father and my brothers (may God sanctify their secrets) on the day of their martyrdom, so I ask you to pray for me to be martyred in order to join their honorable path (may God sanctify their secrets)."
