Iraq and Brazil discuss security and defense mutual cooperation

    INA - BAGHDAD

    National Security Adviser Qassim al-Araji and the Brazilian Minister of Strategic Affairs Flavio Augusto discussed on Monday, joint cooperation in the fields of security and defense.

    Al-Araji, received in his office today, Augusto and his accompanying delegation, which included deputies and officials in the Brazilian government, in the presence of Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Baghdad, Luis Aavaldo Villavanier comez Santos, according to the Media Office of the Advisor to the National Security statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between Iraq and Brazil, and ways to develop it via joint cooperation, particularly in the area of security and defense.

    "Iraq's National Strategy relies on the exchange of experiences with friendly countries transfer", said Al-Araji, noting that "There is appropriate opportunity of cooperation and partnership with Brazil, and there is a will to strengthen this cooperation to serve the common interests between the two countries," pointing out that "Iraq believes in the policy of non-interference in others affairs, and that the strength point of Brazil is in its neutrality."

    Al-Araji noted that "Iraq has considerable experience in the field of counter-terrorism and special operations as well as intelligence, via what has been acquired in the battle against Daesh," pointing out that "Iraq fought on behalf of the world, as this experiences and expertise can be beneficial in this area," stressing "the importance of the the international community to cooperate, to dry up the sources of finance, logistics and media of terrorism."

    For his part, the Brazilian minister expressed his country's interest to broaden and develop the relations with Iraq at all levels, stressing the readiness of Brazil for the transfer of military factories to Iraqi territory, for cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries.
