Minister of Transport Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli announced on Saturday, the allocation of two billion dollars in the budget for the project of Baghdad Metro.
" The project was included in the budget for the year 2022, and an amount of two billion dollars was allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the ministry is awaiting the approval of the budget for the purpose of starting the signing of the contract," Al-Shibli said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, had confirmed during his visit to the building of the Municipality of Baghdad on Wednesday in May 18, 2022, that the phenomenon of traffic jams is unacceptable, while stressing the need to start Baghdad Metro project.
Al-Kadhimi criticized the phenomenon of the traffic jams, and stressed the need to work for activating traffic lights in the streets of Baghdad, in order to find a legal traffic regulation and reduce traffics.”
He added “Metro project is one of the important projects that Baghdad needs, and it must be started as soon as possible, as well as work on the river transport project, in a manner worthy of citizens by providing organized parking stations."
