The official funeral ceremony of the poet Muthaffar Al-Nawab took place at the headquarters of the Writers' Union and in the presence of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that, "The official funeral ceremony of the late poet Muthaffar Al-Nawab began at the headquarters of the Writers' Union in central Baghdad," noting that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi presented the croweds of mourners and in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Hassan Nadhem."
The body of the great iconic poet Muthaffar Al-Nawab arrived home from Sharjah in UAE. The poet Muzaffar al-Nawab died on Friday in a Sharjah hospital at the age of 88 after prolonged illness.
Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi directed to transfer the body of the late Iraqi poet Muthaffar Al-Nawab by presidential plane, to be buried in the homeland,” according to a statement issued by his office.
