Salih: It is necessary to ensure that those involved in Daesh crimes do not escape justice

President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed Monday the need to ensure that those involved in ISIS crimes do not escape justice.

 A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received today at Al-Salam  Palace in Baghdad, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Special Adviser on Genocide, Alice Nderitu ," noting that "during the meeting, the need to investigate into the crimes of the terrorist ISIS committed in Iraq, and the joint coordination between the competent Iraqi government agencies and the UN investigation team in this regard were emphasised.

 According to the statement, Salih stressed the importance of bringing those involved in terrorist crimes to justice, retaliating against them, drying up their sources of funding, documenting crimes committed by ISIS, and collecting evidence condemning terrorism, especially those related to mass graves, stressing that those involved do not go unpunished, in a way that preserves  rights of victims and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
