Baghdad Police Command urged on Saturday, the citizens to report those who carry firearms in public, stressing that they will obtain a judicial order to arrest anyone who carries firearms to threaten the security of the society.
“From time to time, number of people appear in video clips posted on social media while they openly carry firearms, as these irresponsible behaviors are a clear violation of peace and social security, as the perpetrators of these acts will be punished by law and will be held accountable," Baghdad Police Command said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement called on citizens to "provide any available information about these people by calling the toll-free hotline number of Baghdad Police Command (427), and the identity of the caller will be kept confidential."
"The necessary judicial approvals will also be obtained and the accused appearing in the aforementioned video clips will be arrested, to receive their just punishment, and to serve as an example to all those who want to provoke chaos and try to intimidate citizens," the statement included.
