France stressed that the military aid provided by Paris and its allies to Ukraine "does not mean that these countries are at war with Russia ."
"We are not at war with Russia, and international law clearly states that the provision of military equipment does not constitute participation in the war," French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anne-Claire Le Bondre said on Friday.
"What we are doing is providing support to a country that has been attacked," she said.
The spokeswoman played down fears of a nuclear war in the world, stressing that these conversations are "unfounded."
Le Gonder expressed Paris' strong condemnation of the military strikes launched by Russia yesterday on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, in conjunction with the visit of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to this city.
