An intention to legislate a new law on water resources

       Ministry of Water Resources announced Wednesday that there is an intention to legislate a new law related to the water sector, while indicating the application of a system to reduce abuses.
     
    Ministry spokesman Ali Radhi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the work of the watering wages law has been suspended since 2003, as the Ministry of Water Resources is currently working with the relevant authorities in order to find a law that suits the current stage and the challenges facing the water resources sector."
     
    He added, "The ministry has well-studied plans and mechanisms for water distribution, including water releases from dams and reservoirs in quantities that meet the actual requirements and according to the nature of the season and water revenues," noting that "the quantities released from dams and reservoirs meet the needs of agriculture and raw water for liquefaction stations and other needs, such as environmental flow and the share of the marshes, in addition to other health, hydroelectric and industrial uses.
     
     
    Radhi affirmed, "The ministry's keenness to secure water for all beneficiaries, especially in the governorates that are exposed to abuses on river water," stressing that "the ministry applies a good system supported by the central government, the Supreme Judicial Council and the security authorities in order to prevent abuses on the sections of rivers and streams."
     
    Radhi indicated, "there are abuses that lead to water pollution, and that the ministry has instituted many lawsuits against the violators, and under the guidance of the Prime Minister and with the support of the security authorities, the Supreme Judicial Council and the concerned authorities, many of these abuses have been removed," explaining, that "work is continuing to prevent abuses and ensure that access to water rations for all beneficiaries.
