Salih and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg discuss the situation of Iraqi refugees in Europe

    President Barham Salih and Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn discussed today, Tuesday, the situation of Iraqi refugees in Europe.
     
    The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received, today, Tuesday, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn," noting that "bilateral relations and means to strengthen it in various fields were discussed, as well as discussing joint cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, referring to the distinguished relationship between the two sides, discussing the situation of Iraqi refugees and residents in Luxembourg and Europe, and the issue of the displaced inside Iraq, especially the Yazidis.
     
     "The developments in the humanitarian situation of the ongoing military events in Ukraine and the large wave of displaced people they have left behind, in addition to the dangerous economic repercussions on the whole world, including Iraq, were also discussed," explaining that "the need to rely on dialogue and reject the use of force and violence in resolving conflicts and preventing exacerbate it and threaten international peace and security.
     
    For his part, Jan Asselborn affirmed, "his country stands by Iraq, supports its security and stability, and looks forward to strengthening bilateral relations in a manner that serves the interests of both countries at various levels."
