Russian missiles hit a military command centre in Ukraine's Vinnytsia city on Friday, said Kyiv officials. However, it was still not known about the casualties due to the attack. The Russian missiles hit the Air Force command at around 4:30 pm local time. Vinnytsia is situated in Central Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram said, "Today at around 4.30 p.m, the Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on the territory of the Air Force Command in Vinnytsia." It posted a picture of the centre after the alleged attack.
The Ukrainian Air Force also claimed that missiles had hit "several buildings, causing significant damage to infrastructure". According to local reports, Russian forces fired a total of six cruise missiles.. Some of the missiles were reportedly shot down by air defence units of Ukraine. Earlier this month also, Russian missiles destroyed a civilian airport in Vinnytsia.
Earlier in the day, United States President Joe Biden arrived in Poland after attending the NATO summit in Brussels. Biden praised Poland for welcoming around 2.2 million Ukrainan refugees who fled after Russia's invasion. He also met humanitarian experts. Notably, Europe is experiencing the biggest refugee crisis due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine after the World War II.
Russia launched invasion against on February 25. After its invasion, several Ukranian cities were bombed and hit by Russian missiles and rockets. Rusian President Vladimir Putin termed the invasion of Ukraine as “de-Nazification”.
