The Turkish Consulate in Basra announced its support for the railway linking project between the port of Al-Faw and Europe via Turkey, while confirming that Iraq had referred the design of the project to an Italian company.
The Turkish Consul in Basra, Mohamed Ozkon, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The rail link project between Al-Faw port and Europe through Turkey is still in the process of discussions between the Iraqi and Turkish government," noting that "the Turkish government is interested in this project, because it is in the interest of Iraq and Turkey." .
The Turkish consul pointed out that "his country supports the linkage project and looks at it with a positive side," explaining that "Iraq is currently studying the feasibility of this project."
