On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein inaugurated the Digital Consular Support System (ICASS) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed with the Undersecretary for Political Planning, Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi (general supervisor of the project) the details of the systems (audit, citizen, ratification) which are concerned with organizing consular transactions between Iraq's missions abroad, the ministry’s center and the validity of its electronic issuance,” noting that “this project was accomplished with the efforts of the ministry’s competent employees, and it was implemented in 82 missions, in addition to the consular department and attestation offices in the governorates. This project also secures the possibility of digital connectivity with the relevant government agencies in the future.”
He stressed "the need to support the development of central systems, which leads to simplifying procedures and shortening time and effort."
The statement indicated that "these projects are part of the ministry's quest for digital transformation in its work to provide the best consular services to citizens."
