Construction a metro from Nasiriyah Airport to Ur city

     The Tourism Authority announced today, Monday, a proposal to establish a metro from Nasiriyah Airport to the ancient city of Ur, while an invitation was sent to the Ministry of Water Resources regarding the marshes. 

     

    The Director General of the Tourism Facilities Department, Abdul Qader Al-Jumaili, said, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "some archaeological sites were collapsed and destroyed by Daesh  terrorist gangs, especially after the invasion of several cities of Mosul and Anbar," noting that "the country witnessed in Recently, a large number of foreign and Arab tourists have been attracted to archaeological sites, especially after the Pope's visit to Iraq.

    Al- Jumaili pointing out that "there is a proposal to establish a metro from Nasiriyah airport to Ur city and then the marshes, and work is underway to allocate funds for this project. 

                                                                                                                   

    He continued, "There is a great trend on the part of the government towards the tourism sector," explaining that "recently, new sites have been discovered, including underground cities that have great importance in the field of tourism and antiquities."
