The Ministry of Electricity clarified today, Sunday, the latest developments in connection with neighboring countries, while confirming that Turkey will supply Iraq with (500) megawatts, starting next week.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Our ministry has been preparing for the coming summer for a while to raise production, add 3,500 megawatts to the achieved, and introduce some strategic carrier lines between the provinces for the two transport lines west of Baghdad - Haditha and Ramila - Nasiriyah."
He added, "There is also a line in Baquba, south of Diyala, which is one of the lines that preceded it, connecting the governorates. There are about 59 transformer, in addition to great support for the distribution sector, which includes changing the capacities of transformers and developing fixed and mobile transformers."
Regarding the connection with Turkey, he explained, "We have completed the technical connection with Turkey, and we are waiting within a week to start supplying Iraq with (500) megawatts. As for the connection with Jordan, General Electric is working on the ground to survey the land and determine the paths of the lines, and now work is underway to establish Risha line.
