Unconditional cooperation in sharing water quotas is of utmost necessity, Al-Hamdani affirmed

    Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani stressed today, Saturday that everyone should cooperate in sharing water quotas without preconditions.
     
     “Climate change threatens all countries and its effects are not on water resources only, but on the environment in general, food security and the economic situation, stressing the importance of regional and international dialogues to solve climate, water and environmental issues and support opportunities for cooperation to manage water, especially rivers and shared water bodies and concerting the efforts, especially at the global level, to achieve the global development goals of the United Nations, which prepared its program until 2030, which aims to promote world peace, eradicate poverty, achieve sustainable development and develop strategies to reduce the impact of climate change” Al-Hamdani said  in his speech during Baghdad 2nd International Water Conference.
     
    He pointed out that "Through this conference, knowledge and experiences can be exchanged between the institutions concerned with this issue and the effective plans with the help of specialized organizations can be achieved, to support the implementation of goals adapting to climate change at the national level, in addition to joint action at the regional level, and avoiding the countries further deterioration, mass migrations and economic and environmental losses." 

    Al-Hamdani explained that "Climate change has become a reality, and everyone must deal with it seriously, and all countries in the world must take into account the effects of this climate change especially that Iraq is one of the countries classified among the countries most exposed to direct impact of the climate change, thus everyone should cooperate and without preconditions to exchange knowledge, assess the situation and share quotas to prevent this damage, and from the principle of sharing the damage with all countries that share common basins".
