The Fund for the Reconstruction of Liberated Areas announced the number of completed projects in all sectors.
The fund's engineering follow-up official, Hussein Al-Ezzi, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Since the foundation of the fund in 2016 until 2020, 971 projects have been listed, of which 718 projects have been completed so far, which is equivalent to 74% of the listed projects for the liberated areas that included all sectors," noting that "the completed projects have greatly contributed to returning the displaced to their areas of residence."
Al-Ezzi added that, "this year, the focus was on infrastructure projects, which included sewage, water, electricity and roads works, with approximately 375 contracts distributed over the seven governorates," noting that "each contract includes a set of service projects, where all projects were initiated and completed many of them."
He added, "The priority was in the completion of projects for the water and electricity sectors, and then education and health, as most of these projects have been completed."
