Minister of Planning elaborates the greatest challenge to the Iraqi economy

    The Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, affirmed that the biggest challenge facing the Iraqi economy is the real transformation towards the private sector.
     
     
    Ministry of Planning (MOP) said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The Minister of Planning, stress during presiding the fourth session of the Private Sector Development Council, which was held yesterday, Wednesday, that MOP is exerting many efforts to overcome all the difficulties and challenges facing the transformation process and enable this vital sector, by diagnosing  the problems and then developing the suitable solutions for them, noting that "one of the problems is the intersection in the relationship between the industrial and commercial sectors, thus the integration between them is required."
     
     
    "There is a dire need for an active development banking sector, capable of creating a fertile investment ground for the private sector and enabling it to implement government development policies," noting that "The Ministry needs firm decisions that contribute to the development of the private sector, calling the representatives of this sector to identify what is required to be achieved by the government to develop this sector,” Al-Najm said.
     
     
    The statement continued, "The session witnessed a discussion of the files and issues on the agenda related to the work of the Private Sector Development Council, related to the sectors of agriculture, tourism, insurance, and civil mills, as well as reviewing the problems and obstacles that obstruct the work of the private sector in Al-Muthanna Governorate”.
     
    The statement also mentioned that the council also discussed a report on the survey of the informal economy in Iraq, which was carried out by the Central Statistical Organization, pointing out" the session was attended by the undersecretaries of the Ministry of Planning, heads of federations, associations, unions and organizations representing the private sector, and a number of general and a number of Directors-General in the relevant ministries and agencies ".
