The Ministry of Health confirmed that the increase in infections with the Corona virus in recent days portends a new, more dangerous wave, while indicating that no new infections with the Omicron mutant have been recorded.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, told Al-Iraqiya News, and it was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there is a continuous rise in the number of injuries in recent days, as well as a clear increase in the number of positive cases for examinations, and this is an indication that may warn of the beginning of a dangerous epidemic wave and more dangerous than its predecessors."

He added, "The Ministry of Health has 64 cases in intensive care currently in hospitals, and we have thousands of vacant beds in central care, and this confirms that Iraq's situation is under control, but we cannot predict the situation in the near future if 3 factors persist, rise of the number of infections and non-compliance with preventive measures." And the continuation of the below-average demand for vaccines, because the risk of the pandemic will rise."

In response to a question about the number of infections with the new mutant Omicron within the epidemiological situation of recent days, Al-Badr explained that "no cases of the mutant were recorded, except for what was announced a few days ago."
