Resources reveals a plan to modernize water system in Iraq

    The Ministry of Water Resources revealed today, Sunday, a plan to modernize the water system in Iraq.
     A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, the Minister of Finance Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi, and the advisor to the Prime Minister, Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim, an expanded meeting was held at the ministry's center to discuss the challenges facing the ministry's work and its strategic projects and procedures to confront the shortage of Water in light of the climatic changes in the region in general, which were included in the outcomes of the strategic study of water and soil resources, which a presentation was made about during the meeting. And confronting external and internal challenges, which were prepared by the Ministry of Water Resources and in cooperation with the Iraqi ministries of state related to water use.
    The statement added, "During the meeting, the minister stressed the need to develop the water system in the country through the use of modern irrigation methods such as closed and tube irrigation to reduce water losses and optimal use of water and work is being done on this issue with the Ministry of Planning to increase the proportion of agricultural area from the current situation and raise irrigation efficiency."
