The Ministry of Water Resources announced on Sunday reassuring signs to strengthen the water treasury and support agricultural plans, noting that recent rains and water flows from upstream countries will strengthen the water treasury.
"Increasing the snow cover in the countries headwaters will provide good water revenues from the water in March due to the melting of these snows, and those revenues will certainly be within the Tigris River," ministry spokesman Ali Radhi told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The improvement of the water situation will increase the treasury, and will have a positive impact on future agricultural plans, especially with regard to the two seasons: the next summer, and the winter," he said.
"There are some data indicating an increase in the rate of snow cover in the upper reaches of the upstream countries, which is a positive sign that water revenues will be in the melting season starting this March," he said.
"The amount of rain that has fallen and is expected to fall in the future in the northern, central and southern provinces will strengthen the water reservoirs in our dams, particularly the Mosul Dam, Dokan and Derbandikhan, as well as strengthen the water reservoir in Lake Hamrin”.
