AFC amends the Champions League match schedule

    The Asian Football Confederation decided to make new amendments to the schedule of matches for the AFC Champions League 2022, after taking into account the complications resulting from the spread of the Omicron mutated from the Corona virus and the risks resulting from it, as well as the exceptional circumstances surrounding the schedule before and after the World Cup in Qatar. 

    Today, Thursday, the AFC Competitions Committee approved changing the dates of the most important championship in the Asian continent at the club level, and the AFC will continue to work by holding matches on the assembly system, with the redistribution of match dates during this year and 2023 in order to ensure the organization of matches. 

    According to the new dates, the West Asian clubs will compete according to the following dates, the group stage from 7 to 27 April, according to the assembly system from the home and away stages, while the six-round matches will be held on February 3 and 4, 2023, according to the new dates. The knockout stage will be held by the pool system, while the quarter-final matches will be held on the seventh of February of the same year, and the semi-finals will be held on the tenth of the same month. 

    On the other hand, East Asian clubs compete in the pool system according to the following dates; Where the group stage matches will be held from April 15 to May 1 in the pool system, while the round of sixteen matches will be held on August 18 and 19 next in the pool system from one match, with the quarter-finals to be held on August 22, then the semi-final on 25 of the same month. 

    The final of the AFC Champions League will be played from two legs, on February 19 and 26, 2023, with the first leg being held in the West region, while the return match will be held in the East region. 

    The door for nominations to host matches will soon be opened for the countries whose teams will participate in the next edition of the AFC Champions League.
