Ministry of Health - MOH issued a statement regarding the outbreak of the fourth wave of the Corona virus, while confirming that the new wave targets the “unvaccinated.”

"Experts and epidemiologists in the advisory committees of MOH are following the deterioration in the epidemiological situation and the rapid increase in the rates of infections significantly during the last period. The repeated messages contained in its previous data that "the new wave is due to the unvaccinated," said MOH in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement included, "Reports and data issued by health institutions have proven that most of the people infected with the pandemic, especially those who enter hospitals are among the unvaccinated groups, and this corresponds to scientific reports in European countries and the United States of America, where these global reports confirmed that most patients admitted to hospitals are unvaccinated noting that the majority of these infections are due to the rapidly spreading Omicron, which is dozens of times more than the previous mutations,”

“The safety of the vaccines used in Iraq is confirmed. More than ten months have passed since they started using it and vaccinated nearly nine million Iraqis, as the committees monitoring side complications of vaccines in Baghdad and the governorates did not monitor any dangerous complications, and this indicates the safety and sobriety of those vaccines,” added the statement.

The Ministry renewed its call to "accelerate the taking of safe vaccines available in all vaccination outlets, and to leave fear and hesitation about receiving the vaccine due to illusions and false news," calling on "everyone to fully adhere to health instructions and adhere to preventive measures by wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and avoiding crowded places to protect themselves and their families from this epidemic and to stay away from the establishment of large human gatherings,”

“All ministries and governmental and non-governmental institutions are to implement the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety, especially not to allow affiliates and auditors to enter the institutions until after receiving the vaccine or bringing a laboratory test (PCR) that proves that they are free of virus,” the ministry called, stressing “the need to support the security institutions for the teams,”
