The Directorate of Antiquities of Dhi Qar announced today, Friday, organizing number celebrations and bazaars in the city of Ur in preparation for the year 2022, while noting an Endeavors to classify Ur among the most important tourist cities in the Middle East.
"The ancient city of Ur witnessed number of literature and musical ceremonies and bazaars to welcome the new year, which were held by the Union of Writers and the Artists Union," The director of Dhi Qar antiquities, Amer Abdul Razzaq, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Abdul Razzaq added, "The city has received large numbers of tourism companies that visit the antiquities and the marshes, especially on Thursdays and Fridays, implemented by companies from Baghdad, Karbala, Babil, Kirkuk, Diyala and even Kurdistan region," expecting that "the province of Dhi Qar and the city of Ur will be a tourist destination for Iraq in the near future."
Abdul Razzaq also continued, "It will be contracting with solid international companies to work in this ancient city so that it will be one of the most important tourist cities in the Middle East," stressing that "this will achieve a great resource for Iraq's budget and an alternative resource for oil and a resource for operating large numbers of manpower."
