Iraq affirms its position to support a political and peaceful solution in Syria 

Iraq participates as an observer in the Astana meetings on the Syrian issue. 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said, according to a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Saturday, that "Iraq's ambassador in Moscow, Abdul Rahman Al-Husseini, is participating in the 17 Astana meetings, in Nur Al-Sultan in Kazakhstan, which Iraq attends as an observer," noting that "" Al-Husseini will hold talks with the delegations of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Russia, Iran, Turkey and the United Nations, and affirm Iraq's firm position based on supporting a political and peaceful solution and emphasizing the territorial integrity of Syria.
