Minister of Commerce Alaa Al-Jubouri discussed today, Tuesday, with the Pakistani ambassador to Iraq Ahmed Amjad Ali, strengthening economic partnership and activating the private sector.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Minister of Commerce discussed with the Pakistani ambassador strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries and finding new mechanisms for dealing with the private sector and establishing real partnerships."
Hanoun pointed out that "The Minister of Trade, Alaa al-Jubouri, stressed that Iraq seeks to activate economic relations with all countries of the world and benefit from economic expertise in this field, as well as the importance of holding the Iraqi-Pakistani Joint Committee for its meetings and resolving all files related to the two countries," stressing "the importance of holding the specialized exhibition for Pakistani products which is scheduled to be held early next year, in which Pakistani industries will be displayed."
Al-Jubouri also affirmed "The importance of encouraging Pakistani companies to invest in the Iraqi provinces and participate in international exhibitions held by Iraq and the importance of supporting Iraq's position in negotiations with the World Trade Organization to obtain full membership in the organization."
For his part, the Pakistani ambassador affirmed the aspiration of his country to develop economic relations with Iraq, noting that "Pakistan will hold an exhibition in Baghdad and Erbil early next year, which aims to activate the level of cooperation between the private sectors of both countries and to develop and activate economic relations with Iraq."
