The Lebanese President lauds the Iraqi government stances in supporting his country

    The Lebanese President Michel Aoun praised the stances of the Iraqi government to support his country in the field of energy, affirming during his speech at the celebration to mark the first centenary of founding the Iraqi state, which was organized by the Iraqi embassy in Beirut, that the two countries have close and advanced brotherly relations.
     
    Addressing the Iraqi people, Aoun said, "It gives me great pleasure to address you on this occasion, and to share with you the feelings of pride, as you come from a fertile land with its civilized history and ancient heritage, its thinkers and writers, and its rich contribution to the path of humanity towards progress and development," explaining that “Lebanon and Iraq have close brotherly relations within their Arab affiliation, enriched by days and years, with cooperation and participation, even in challenges, circumstances and events, as the declaration of the state of Greater Lebanon coincide with your revolution with a difference of one year only,  and even the challenges faced by our peoples, whether security or economic, are similar.
     
    And he added, "Lebanon  is appreciates and grateful to Iraq, for its permanent standing by its side in all circumstances and stages, despite the difficult challenges facing you, and the last  brotherly support was through the initiative of Iraqi officials to take a decision to supply Lebanon with oil to operate the electricity plants," directing "a salute of appreciation  to the President of the Iraqi Republic, Barham Salih, and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, and the officials concerned with this file, for this initiative, which we hope will contribute soon to cover part of the needs of our people, and alleviating some of its burdens".
     
    The Lebanese president continued, "I have great confidence that Iraq is capable of restoring its glories, activating the energies of its people, advancing to the highest ranks it deserves, and keeping pace with the development and prospects of the era."
     
    For his part, in an exclusive statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Iraqi ambassador to Lebanon, Haider Shia Al-Barrak, praised the "strength of bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iraq," stressing "work to develop them in the interest of the two brotherly countries."
     
    In the same context, the Lebanese Minister of Energy, Walid Fayyad, indicated in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The great role that Iraq plays in helping Lebanon through sending oil, which improves the electrical supply in light of the current crisis that the country is going through."
     
    Meanwhile, Lebanese MP Tony Franjieh affirmed that "the historical relationship between Lebanon and Iraq is  great and it cannot be summed up in words," praising the sacrifices of the Iraqi people at various turns, hoping that Iraq will enjoy peace and security."
