Al-Sadr: Terrorism return in Makhmour and Basra bombings foretell a worsening political situation

    Leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, confirmed on Wednesday that the return of terrorism in Makhmour and Basra bombings foretell a worsening of the political situation.


    "The return of terrorism represented by Daesh in  Makhmour area and the political bombings that took place in Basra Governorate, in addition to some assassinations from here and there foretell of the worsening political situation and their resort to violence. It reminds us of the attacks on hospitals and others before the elections," said Al-Sadr in a tweet to on his Twitter account, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). 


    He added, "This is what will drag the country and people into danger for the sake of some (seats), which requires us to emphasize that arms are confined to the hands of the state and work hard to disband all the unruly militias that misuse weapons under the pretext of resistance or any other pretext,"


    "It even indicates the spread of corruption and its prevalence in the joints of the state, and this increases our determination to fight corruption of all kinds, regardless of the perpetrator and whoever he belongs to," Al-Sadr noted. 


    He pointed out that "If solutions are not available for this, the (national majority government) will adopt this with full force and under the cover of the law, and no one is absolutely excluded. God is the guardian of success. God Almighty does not like corruption," 


    "Finally, we call on the competent authorities to find out the facts in these terrorist acts and others, mercy and eternity for our righteous martyrs and a speedy recovery for our wounded," Al-Sadr included.
