The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) announced today, Monday, its participation in a workshop to discuss means of curbing extremism in Nineveh province, which was organized by the National Committee to follow up on the implementation of the strategy to combat violent extremism in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.
SJC said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The workshop, which was held in Erbil for two days, with the participation of the Supreme Judicial Council, a number of ministries and civil society organizations, aims to identify the International Organization for Migration's program to prevent extremism and know its goals."
The statement added that "The most important concepts, goals and means included in the national strategy to combat violent extremism were reviewed, in addition to discuss the proposals submitted by the people of the governorate from various cultural and religious diversity, and the need to work to prevent the return of extremist ideology and reduce hate speech."
