Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf announced today, Monday, that Gilgamesh Tablet will be in Baghdad tomorrow.
Al-Sahaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The diplomacy of recovering the looted artifacts, returned more than 17,500 antiquities during this year," noting that "The Gilgamesh Tablet will be Baghdad tomorrow, Tuesday."

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will hold a ceremony to receive and hand over the tablet tomorrow at its headquarter in Baghdad," Al-Sahaf added.

It’s worth mentioning that the Gilgamesh Dream Tablet is a 3,600-year-old (clay tablet) contains inscriptions in the Sumerian language showing part of the Epic of Gilgamesh, was stolen from Iraq in 1991 and traded in international auctions, is believed to have been looted from a museum in Iraq following the conflict in that country in 1991. In 2007 it was fraudulently introduced into the US art market and in 2019, it was seized by the US Department of Justice.
