Ministry of Health and Environment clarified on Sunday its procedures for detecting the Corona strain, while determining the most prevalent strain in Iraq.

The Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Riyad Abdel Amir, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the tests according to which all strains of corona are detected are in the ministry's laboratories, and the type of strain is detected only through the central examination."

He added, "The detection of the strain in the central laboratory is sufficient, and it is not a requirement for its presence in all laboratories," noting that "models arrive from the governorates on an ongoing basis, and the central laboratory studies this strain."

He stressed that "no case of the Omicron strain has been diagnosed so far," noting that "the predominant strain in Iraq is Delta."
