Salih and Al-Abadi stress the importance of protecting democratic path

President Barham Salih and former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stressed the importance of protecting the democratic path.
The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, where they discussed the developments of the general situation in the country and the file of the legislative elections."
The statement added, "The need to protect security and stability, enhance civil and societal peace in the country, consolidate the national ranks, unite everyone, and rely on dialogue and convergence in resolving outstanding issues was emphasized."
Regarding the elections and their results, the statement stressed that “the importance of protecting the democratic path was emphasized, and the need to resolve electoral appeals in accordance to the law and through the competent judicial authority, and in accordance with professional and impartial standards so that its outputs would be legal and constitutional and move towards forming a government capable of meeting the requirements of the stage and the aspirations of citizens in a free life."
