Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar Ismail announced on Tuesday significant increases in production capacity.
"During a lecture at the Defense University for Higher Military Studies, the Minister of Oil stressed the role of the oil and gas industry in supporting the national economy, and the Ministry of Oil's keenness to make the best investment of the country's oil and gas resources to achieve sustainable development of the national economy," the ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Oil sector companies are working on a planned strategy to develop oil fields, optimize gas investment and use modern technology in manufacturing and refining," he said.
"The development in the oil and gas industry and increased production have boosted the revenues of the Iraqi state and also contributed to secure the country's necessary needs in various sectors," he said.
"The Minister of Oil gave a lecture at the Defense University for Higher Military Studies at its invitation under the title "The Strategy of the Ministry of Oil and its impact on strengthening the national economy," during which he reviewed the reality of the oil industry in Iraq and its clear progress in the field development, optimal investment of gas and the ministry's pursuit of more for the development of the economy."
