The United Arab Emirates and Qatar condemned on Sunday the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
"The UAE strongly condemns these terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing security and stability in brotherly Iraq and is contrary to ethical and humanitarian values and principles," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said.
The ministry expressed its "solidarity and stand with brotherly Iraq in the face of terrorism," stressing the UAE's "keenness to establish security and stability in it."
Qatar strongly condemned the attempt of al-Kadhimi's assassination, calling it "an act of terrorism targeting the Iraqi state."
"We must prosecute those involved and bring them to justice," it said, reiterating its "firm position in support of the unity, stability and sovereignty of Iraq, and the aspirations of its fraternal people for security, stability and development."
