A Brazilian police source confirmed to AFP that 25 people suspected of belonging to a criminal gang specialized in bank robberies were killed, on Sunday, in a security operation in the state of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil.
The source from the Federal Traffic Police said that “25 criminals were killed, and there were no injuries.”

Earlier, the source stated that “the preliminIG information available to us indicates that more than 20 criminals were killed.”
The operation, which was launched in cooperation with the MilitIG Police, took place in Virginia.
The security forces stormed two farms where “members of a criminal organization specialized in armed robberies of banks and ATMs were planning to attack a number of bank branches in the city.”
In one of the two farms, an exchange of fire with the police led to the killing of “18 people,” while the attack on the second farm resulted in many casualties, according to a police source, explaining that there were no police casualties.
During the operation, a large quantity of weapons (rifles, grenades and ammunition), bullet-proof vests, and several stolen cars were seized.
Federal Traffic Police and MilitIG Police gave details of the operation during a press conference on Sunday.
