South Korea announced that it will lift strict restrictions to combat the Corona virus, starting next week, as the country prepares to enter the stage of “coexistence” with the virus, amid high levels of vaccination.

A new committee created this week is working on developing a plan for a gradual return to normal life, after lifting the strict restrictions imposed, amid expectations that the number of vaccinated against the Corona virus next November will reach 80% of the population.

It is scheduled to allow private gatherings of up to 8 people in the capital and its neighboring cities, and 10 people in other regions, starting on October 18.

Prime Minister Kim Bo-gyeom announced the amendments to the social distancing rules during a meeting he chaired to respond to the Corona virus today, Friday, at the government complex in Seoul.

The prime minister said private gatherings of up to 8 people, including 4 fully vaccinated people, will be allowed in the capital and its neighboring cities.

The government also decided to allow outdoor sports stadiums to accept fully vaccinated people, provided that attendance does not exceed 30% of the total capacity.

South Korea has not imposed a complete lockdown, but it has been subject to strict social distancing restrictions, including a maximum of gatherings of more than two people after 6 pm.
