The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Tuesday that appeals against the election results had been started, while those receiving the appeals had been identified.
"Those affected by the decision of the preliminary results of the public and private vote are entitled to appeal that decision in accordance with the Commission's Law 31 of 2019 of Article 20, which gave the right to appeal to the political party or candidate by the decision of the Council of Commissioners within 3 days starting the day after the publication of the election results," IHEC spokeswoman Jumana al-Ghalay told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Those affected have the right to appeal to the National Office, the Provincial Office, any electoral office of the Commission, the Office of the Territorial Authority or directly to the judiciary," she said.
"The Board of Commissioners responds to the judicial body's requests for elections and its inquiries about appeals within a period of not more than 7 working days from the date they are received," she said.
The High Electoral Commission announced On Monday, the electoral results representing the public and private votes.
"The transfer of election results was done manually to ensure 100% accuracy," said Imad Jamil, a member of the media team at the Electoral Commission, adding that "the announced results represent the public and private votes."
"The Electoral Commission will continue to receive appeals for three days," he said, adding that "appeals will be resolved and heard one week after they are filed."
