Iraqi Metrological Organization announced on Friday, a plan to increase metrological stations while indicating the cooperation with the Region's stations.
"The organization has a plan to rehabilitate and develop metrological services as winter approaches," spokesman Amer al-Jabri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that "correspondence were made with some companies specialized in the field of numerical predictions, in order to obtain modern models with accurate results."
Al-Jabri referred to "the organization’s plan to increase the number of metrological stations according to the specializations available within the 2022 budget," explaining that "the number of operating stations at the present time is 35."
He pointed out that "there are 12 metrological stations in the Kurdistan region, whose work is technically linked to the Meteorological organization and linked to the region from an administrative point of view."
In a related context, the spokesman for the meteorological organization stated, "The seismic observatories continue to record earthquakes, and about 8 seismic tremors were recently recorded in the south of Kalar district, in addition to recording and sensing a tremor of 4 degrees, 26 km northeast of Rabia from Nineveh Governorate, by the citizens of the area.
"Iraq is within the border line of earthquakes and is beginning to be affected by earthquakes, especially in areas near Iran," he said.
