Thwarting an attempt to bring explosive materials from Syria into Iraqi territory

    The Security Media Cell announced today, Tuesday, that it had thwarted an attempt to bring explosive materials from Syria into Iraqi territory.
     
    SMC said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The security forces in the 15th Army Division were able to prevent an attempt to bring 18 bags weighing 500 kg filled with TNT into Iraqi territory, according to accurate intelligence information by the Counter-Terrorism Service."
     
    "The process of seizing these materials took place after forming a specialized working team and  the follow-up by thermal cameras at the borders," noting that "a group of people in a wheel was spotted trying to bring these explosive materials from Syria to  the Iraqi territory through the village of (Naim) adjacent to the border", the statement added.
    In another context, SMC stated that "A force from the Fourth Division of the Federal Police managed to kill one of ISIS terrorist members, after it opened fire on a group of three members while they were trying to trespass a shop on the public street in Qadiriyah area in the Mukashifa district.
     
     SMC explained that this operation came after clashing with this gang, and the search is still underway for the two terrorist members, as the body of the third one was found, indicating that  the operation resulted in a slight injury to one of the policemen of the Federal Police.
